HOW IT STARTED

Five Star Precious Metals, which prides itself in providing Five Star service to those in the precious metals industry, emerged from humble beginnings. Their journey began with Dialase Incorporated, founded by Hastin Dobson, Fred Kaplan, and Alphonso Trewick. Dialase specialized in the removal of imperfections from diamonds through a tedious process of drilling microscopic lines into the diamonds, treating them with an electric beam, and soaking the diamonds in a mixture of acids. Through their experience with Dialase, Dobson, Trewick with the assistance of brothers Linton Hinds and Easton Dawkins in 1997, founded Ronella Lasing, making their quarters in the heart of New York’s Diamond District.

In 1992, Linton and Easton envisioned greater opportunity in the precious metals industry and founded Five Star Refiners, which focused on the purchasing, smelting, and trading of precious metals. Through mentoring from those established in the industry, Five Star was able to withstand the extremely challenging stages of developing a new business.

In 2002, Linton Hinds began Five Star Precious Metals, which has emerged as one of the most trusted precious metal purchasing companies in the industry. Their trustworthy ‘Five Star’ service of metal processing, gem stone removal, and assay service has generated a nationwide customer base.
